Medivet 24 Hour Chorley

I got an emergency appointment on Sunday 2nd Nov. I was pleased with the speed of the appointment and the receptionist / nurse was very helpful.
I suspect the vet I saw was recently qualified (which I have no issue with) apart from the fact she checked her assessment twice with another vet - I would have hoped this was more experienced. I never saw or was consulted by the second vet.
I left the appointment with no diagnosis only told to come back if my whippet’s condition deteriorated. I was prescribed an anti inflammatory injection, painkillers and anti inflammatory medicine. The vet was going to issue an antibiotic but when I questioned her as to why she gave me a full explanation, then went in the back for the ‘second opinion’ and then didn’t issue the antibiotic.
The next morning my dog’s anal gland ruptured through his skin leaving an open wound. When I visited my vet that morning, he explained that it had ruptured internally the night before -the swelling which 2 vets at this practice couldn’t diagnose and then issued 3 different medications to the vets at Medivet.
I appreciate animal conditions can be difficult to diagnose but I’m not filled with confidence that TWO vets at this practice couldn’t diagnose his condition.
I was then left with an open wound to tend to for the next 10 days and medication that was unopened and unused and I couldn’t return.
I think next time I’ll take the trip to the one further which my vet recommends.
Disappointing.

Excellent caring staff looked after my dog and kept and kept me informed of his progress.

The practice staff were very helpful and knowledgeable. Thought the team to be very kind and caring to our dog.

An itemised bill should be provided for all appointments and medications

The vets and staff are excellent but I feel since Medivet have taken over I often have a long wait in a queue on arrival as there is mostly only one receptionist and they are frequently busy doing other tasks behind the scenes which impacts on their efficiency.
In essence the prices have gone up and the service has declined since Medivet took over

This was my first visit with my cat and everything was great, they were very kind to us, I loved it

As always, my dog received a very thorough check up, along with vaccinations, from Chris. He's always happy to discuss issues and give advice. Thanks.

There is very suitable working hours 24/7. The Chris was find the reason of our cat sick. We should not give medcine through the stomack, we start making injecktion instead as tablets and liquids irritate and make werse pancreatis. Now the our cat, i hope that, is healing slowly.
