Frequently Asked Questions about Partnerships

Investment starts from £10,000. You’ll pay an initial 10% deposit, and the remaining balance can be spread over a 10-year deferred payment period. This means you have the flexibility to repay the balance in a way that works for you during those first 10 years.

As a Partner, you’re self-employed and own an equity share in your practice. You’ll earn through your share of the profits, typically paid as regular monthly drawings. This gives you uncapped earning potential from day one. It’s a true partnership model—when Medivet succeeds, you succeed too.

Not at all. One of the benefits of the Medivet co-ownership model is that it’s designed for vets at any stage, regardless of leadership or business experience. We know many vets haven’t had much exposure to the commercial side of running a practice, which is why we provide comprehensive support across HR, finance, marketing, procurement, and compliance. This allows you to focus on delivering great clinical care while building your confidence in the business side. We also offer leadership and commercial training to help you grow and succeed as a Partner.

Currently, the Partnership model is only available to veterinary surgeons.

As a Partner, you remain in control of clinical decision-making within your practice. The aim is to combine the benefits of being part of a larger organisation with the freedom to shape how your practice runs day-to-day. You’ll be able to lead the clinical direction, make decisions in the best interests of your patients, and build a culture that works for your team and clients.

You’ll have strong support both locally and centrally. At a local level, you’ll work with your Operational Support Manager, Network Partner, Network Director, and Network Marketing Manager. Alongside this, Medivet’s central support teams provide end-to-end support across HR, finance, marketing, procurement, and compliance. This means you’re never on your own—you’ll have the backing you need to grow your practice and make the most of opportunities.

When it comes to exiting, Medivet Partners are in a strong and flexible position. You can either sell your share to another vet who will continue the Partnership, or take advantage of a guaranteed buy-back option This means you don’t have to rely on finding a buyer yourself. Your exit payment is calculated based on a weighted average of your profit share over the 12 months leading up to your resignation, along with your 12-month notice period. A set multiple is then applied to determine the final exit value.
