Puppy healthcare plan: Your dog's first year
Puppies can join the dog health plan as soon as their vaccination course starts. The whole first year is covered, including the primary vaccination course (two injections, typically given two to four weeks apart), first flea, tick, and worm treatments, microchipping if your puppy hasn't already been chipped, and health, weight, and development checks 
as they grow. Appointment reminders mean nothing slips through the gaps. 

After year one, the plan carries straight on with annual boosters and the six-monthly health checks. It's worth chatting to your local Medivet clinic as soon as you bring your puppy home. They can set up the vaccination schedule and the plan in one go and give you any extra advice you might need.
Adult and senior dogs on the healthcare plan
The routine care doesn't slow down once your dog's past the puppy phase. Annual boosters keep their protection up to date. Six-monthly health checks give a vet a proper look at your dog's weight, teeth, heart, and general condition twice a year. This is a good way to spot changes before they become bigger problems

Dog healthcare plan vs. pet insurance
The Medivet Healthcare Plan covers the routine preventive care your pet needs through the year: vaccinations, flea and worm treatments, health checks.
Pet insurance covers the unexpected illness, accidents, and injury. You pay a monthly premium to your insurer and submit a claim when your pet needs treatment for something unplanned.
A lot of owners choose to have both at the same time. The plan looks after your pets routine health. Insurance looks after the unexpected.

The monthly fee depends on your dog's size. There are two weight bands: one for smaller dogs and one for larger dogs. Prices are reviewed periodically, so your local Medivet clinic is the best place to get the current monthly fee before you join. There are no additional charges for included services on top of your monthly payment.
The plan covers planned, routine preventive care. It doesn't cover treatment for illness, injuries, accidents, or conditions your dog had before joining. A pre-existing condition doesn't automatically prevent your dog from joining the plan, but it won't be covered. Your local Medivet team can talk you through what the plan includes for your dog specifically before you sign up.
Kennel cough vaccination is included where your vet clinically recommends it. It isn't automatic for every dog on the plan. Whether it's right for your dog depends on their lifestyle, for example whether they spend time in kennels, attend daycare, or regularly mix with large groups of dogs. Your vet will advise.
Neutering is not automatically included in the plan, but a discount may be available at your clinic. It's worth asking about this when you contact your local Medivet team to join. They can confirm what's currently on offer.
If a booster is overdue by a significant amount, your dog may need to restart part of their vaccination course to regain full protection. Your vet will advise on the best approach. The plan includes appointment reminders to help you stay on track and avoid any gaps.
The plan is registered to your chosen Medivet clinic. If you move or want to change practice, speak to your local Medivet team about your options. A minimum term applies to the plan. Your clinic team will explain the full terms, including the cancellation policy, before you sign up.

This saving is based on the cumulative cost of individual treatments, minus your subscription charge and excludes the additional savings benefits that are available to these pets on plan (15% off dental procedures & 10% off vet care and all medication and some food). Prices correct January 2026.

***A nose-to-tail health check is a routine veterinary exam for a pet that appears healthy. It helps catch problems early and monitor overall health. Health checks may be performed by a vet or a nurse. It is not intended as an examination for a pet with a health issue, be it a new or ongoing condition. This requires a consultation with a vet which is chargeable at our standard rate.
