It seems many years ago that I qualified from the University of Melbourne. Soon after I travelled to the UK to locum and explore my paternal heritage, however I unexpectedly settled in Dorset and never returned to Australia. It is a fortunate person who can spend decades enjoying their work and so I feel blessed to be one of these few. As a generalist veterinary surgeon my role covers treating animals in multiple disciplines, my current area of study is in veterinary dentistry which is an area in which we all can do so much more and make a big difference to the lives of many of our pets. I look forward to meeting you and your pets when you are next in the hospital. Cathie

I graduated from Nottingham University in July 2017, and. In 2021, I embarked on a new adventure as a night vet, where I've had the privilege of tending to the needs of our beloved companions when they need it most. My commitment to continuous learning and professional growth led me to pursue a postgraduate certificate in emergency medicine and surgery. Beyond the life in the clinic, I share my life with four wonderful border collies. These intelligent and spirited companions have taught me the value of patience, companionship, and the joys of outdoor adventures.

Sam

Veterinary Surgeon

Sam grew up near Bath before graduating from London Royal Veterinary College in 2019, where he promptly moved back west to make Dorset his home, initially working with all creatures great and small before settling on cats and dogs. During this time, he developed an interest in small animal medicine, acquiring a post-graduate certificate in 2023. Sam's enjoys all medicine but particularly likes endocrinology, nephrology and oncology, although won't say no to a bit of soft tissue surgery and is one of our vets trained in laparoscopic (keyhole) procedures. However, his main passion is education, and enjoys teaching and training on all aspects of veterinary science to student vets and nurse alike. When not at work, Sam is found at home with his wife (also a vet), two grumpy cats (Neville and Saffron) and one badly behaved but well-meaning Labrador (Sidney), where he is either reading, exploring or trying/failing to become an increasingly unlikely winner of Masterchef!

We needed an emergency vet recently and our beautiful cat of almost 19 years had to be put to rest. The young male vet we saw (wish I'd got his name) was so gentle and kind. He explained things in a way our young daughter could understand and included her in conversations. I'll be forever grateful for his care and compassion.

Last Sunday we needed an emergency appointment for our cat and were put through to this practice. From the moment we arrived everyone was so kind and gentle with us as we cried. I VERY MUCH APPRECIATED the sign in reception explaining that some patients and their family might be going through difficult times. The vet was incredibly thorough, even though we realised that it was endbof life care required. He explained all the dire complications preparing us for the inevitable. We were given however much time we required to say goodbye before, during and after, and shown great compassion and empathy. What a very difficult shift, on a Sunday, for all the staff team, obviously only dealing with emergencies. Thank you SO VERY MUCH. we couldn't have asked or even hoped for any better care, for our cat and indeed ourselves. THANKYOU

My dog had to stay in for 2 nights. When we picked her up she was covered in her own poo. She must have been sat in it for hours or longer. An absolute disgrace. No animal should be put through that and you are meant to care and look after them. Also when collecting our dog the first question was how will you pay. Surely it should be let me get your dog so you can see she is ok. A disgrace and I am changing vets

We bought our JRT Jeanie in fug and emergency appointment on the 18th April after she became very unwell and we were so worried as we thought she'd been bitten by an adder. The vet we saw was so kind and friendly, she was so gentle with Jeanie and helped put our minds at rest as she could see we were upset. Very happy with Jeanie's treatment, and ours. Lovely clean, calm environment
