Phillip Speer

Lead Veterinary Surgeon

I graduated from the Royal Veterinary College, London in 2001. After a short period in mixed practice in Cornwall, I moved to a large, small animal in Eastbourne where I spend 18 years. During this time I developed many interests but particularly dentistry and emergency medicine. I left in 2020 and following 4 years in Burgess Hill, I joined the Medivet Faygate team in September 2024 as the Lead Veterinary Surgeon. At home I have a black cat called Flapjack who we rehomed from the Cats Protection League in March 2024.

Veterinary Surgeon

My name is Valentina, also known as Val, and I am a Veterinary Surgeon working in Medivet Faygate 24h with a permanent role since January 2024. I come from Sardinia, one of the main islands in Italy. Despite my love for my home country, I have always been passionate about other cultures and languages. English has been the first foreign language I learned. Since I was a small child, I enjoyed spending time in nature and approaching all sorts of animals, including earwigs. During my studies, I was mainly interested in science and biology, and in my spare time I was obsessed with horse riding, which I would define as my first love. Animals and science fused together led me to my career in veterinary medicine. After graduating, I focused more on Equine Medicine, completing a PhD in Italy and then working in Ireland as an intern in an Equine hospital. After that amazing experience, I realized I was missing something, so I decided to start as a Small Animal Vet in the UK, and here I am! My main interest is diagnostic imaging, with a particular focus on ultrasonography, but I also enjoy sports medicine and soft tissue surgery. I am currently a member of European Association of Veterinary Diagnostic Imaging. I have a cat and her name is Mousse because she is the sweetest thing ever! We also call her Mussi (common cat name in Sardinia). She lives with my partner in Italy, where I go as often as I can. I do believe in the concept of One Health, according to which humans, animals, and nature are inextricably connected.

Veterinary Surgeon

I qualified as a veterinary surgeon at USAMV Cluj Napoca, Romania. I joined Medivet in January 2023 and initially, I started as a floating vet between the majority of the branches within the area until I became permanent in our lovely regional hospital Medivet Faygate 24h. I have a particular interest in internal medicine, ECC and feline medicine in which I’d like to do a certificate for in the near future. I am a proud mum of a domestic short hair cat called Piciuski and a German Sheppard called Bruno that are constantly motivating me to become a better vet and to treat all the furry friends as they were my own.

I have completed my degree in veterinary Medicine in Portugal having done part of my studies in Italy too. I have lived and worked as a vet around the world and settled in the UK with my young family in 2008. For the past few years, I have focused exclusively in Veterinary Dentistry in general practice having worked in small animal practice all my career. My interest in dentistry started a long time ago when I was working as a vet in Singapore. I work in several practices across Surrey and West Sussex. I live with my family and our dog Betty. Outside work I enjoy days out, city breaks abroad, exhibitions, travelling and time with family and friends.

Ward Veterinary Surgeon

I have been a vet now for longer than many of my colleagues have been alive. I have kept up to date by undertaking 2 post graduate certificates in general practice and internal medicine and am an RCVS Advanced Practitioner in internal medicine. I joined Medivet in 2020 in the middle of the pandemic and was the lead vet at Medivet Horley before moving to work at Medivet Faygate when the clinic re-opened as the 24-hour centre in July 2024. I am the ward vet and look after all the hospitalised patients when they are poorly enough to need to stay with us. Colin, my dog, who you can see in many of the photos, comes to work with me and is the practice mascot. I live with Colin the dog and my husband. We enjoy growing our own fruit and vegetables and have a small Christmas tree farm. In my spare time we go walking, enjoy gardening, making things with willow and baking.

My name is Aimee Warner. I qualified from the Royal (Dick) School of Veterinary Studies, Edinburgh in 2009 and have worked in small animal practice since then. I was a partner at Medivet Richmond for over 10 years before relocating with my family (husband, 3 children and cat) to sunny Sussex in 2024. I have worked at Faygate since then. I love all aspects of being a small animal vet but my passions are ultrasound and cardiology. I have completed a cardiology certificate and a PgC in small animal cardiology studies.
