Pet Flea Checks
Flea treatment and prevention
Fleas are incredibly itchy and irritating for your pet, but they also cause health issues that are easily preventable.
What happens during a flea check?
During a flea check, your vet will complete a thorough check of your pet for any signs of fleas. This includes searching for the fleas themselves, their eggs, or any redness or irritation that can be created by the parasites.
The flea check will also include a full nose-to-tail check to ensure your pet has a clean bill of health.
Your vet will advise you on how to look for signs of fleas at home and explain the risks that fleas can cause on your pet’s overall health. They’ll also be happy to discuss the best preventative flea treatment for the individual needs of your pet, as well as answer any questions you may have.
Why are flea checks important?
Preventing fleas is an essential part of your pet’s regular care. These tiny parasites live off of your pet’s blood and can cause a number of issues including anemia, allergic reactions, and some diseases.
Not only are they a danger to your pet, but they can also make their way to you and other family members. Flea eggs can survive for a very long time in soft furnishings and carpets, so preventing the problem is far more effective than cure.
