Veterinary Surgeon

I graduated as a veterinary surgeon in 2020 from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki in Greece. After working for a few months in a small animal practice in Greece I decided to move to the UK to experience something new . I have been working for Medivet for almost two years now mostly between three branches, one of them being Standish. I have an interest in internal medicine and ultrasonography.

Nicky Burrows

Head Veterinary Nurse

Nicky has been at Tyldesley Vets since we opened in September 2000, she also assisted in the opening of our Adlington and Standish branches and now splits her time between all 3 branches. She qualified in 1999 after doing her training at Myerscough College. She is our head nurse and is also in charge of the insurance paperwork. She has a Jack Russell, Rosie, who comes to work with her every day. Nicky has a keen interest in horse riding and has two horses, Josh and Meg, whom she competes with most weekends.

Zophia Jones

Practice Manager

Zophia spends most of her time managing the practice and our wonderful team. Keeping everything running smoothly is more than a full time job, and on top of this Zophia is always looking for ways in which we can exceed our clients' expectations. Most of Zophia's time is spent behind the scenes supporting our team, and complements the veterinary staff. She particularly likes the diversity and challenges that occur daily, and helping owners and their companions. Outside of work Zophia is just as busy with her three boys, two dogs and cat. Unsurprisingly, the animals are easier to deal with.

It was great when you used to have a cat stand. I appreciate you weren’t able to keep the old one but perhaps you could buy a coffee table or something to rest cat carriers on so they feel less vulnerable in the waiting room when there are dogs there.

We had a new vet this time who unfortunately didn't take heed of the nervous lead on our dog and so came out, stood directly over him and stared him down which led to a little growl from our dog following which she told him off and meant that he then cowered and was uncomfortable for most of the appointment.
Our previous vet had a much more understanding and natural approach, it's a shame to not have her for our appointments

My dog went to have annual injections and kennel cough spray. My dog did not react well to having spray up her nose and became upset with the vet ( as I imagine any human would if their head was held and someone tried to put something up their nose). The vet told my dog it was naughty a few times and asked me if this was a normal reaction. She had had it twice before and had been fine previously. Maybe this was to do with the way the previous vets had approached my dog. I have always found this practice really helpful and caring but left this time a bit surprised with the way my dog was spoken too.
