mixed bag of vets, ever-changing and some better than others. Main issue is why don't they send automatic SMS reminders for appointments, maybe a few hours before it's due? It would help everyone!

Taken over by Medivet and now incredibly expensive, run to squeeze the most cash they can out of pet owners. We switched to Derwent Valley vets which is still a local business that cares about animals and owners.

May2024 Have had to add onto old review as can't see how to further reviews. Had to get dog put to sleep £135ish and cremation £395 overall for both. Still expensive. They deserve NO STARS as they lost the ashes even though they were on the premises and over a week overdue. Tried to blame cratorium and relief delivery driver, this doesn't take away from the fact that she was in the vet premises and they didn't know and couldn't find. Nice staff and apologetic but the surgery itself is an organisational shambles. When confronted with this the manager apologized and said they would have to look into this matter, but would not admit that though the ashes location was unknown they were lost. Practice has plummeted since medivet took over and gone from a good one who cared for animals to a lip service who cares more for money. Still can't understand why I went back to them after my previous experience, they are obviously still benefiting from memories of the previous owner. Based on my experience I would advise you to take your pets elsewhere if you love them. July 2023 Expensive. Recently gone from £27 to £44 for a consultation. Was also charged £36 for a two minute follow-up consultation, this used to be included in initial price. So what less than a year ago was £27 in now £80. An unjustifiable increase. Medicine on internet at £11 is £27 here. Oh if you want to get the medicine elsewhere don't forget you will be charged a £24 prescription fee. I know all vets rip you off but this is ridiculous. Vet quality is ok, not great. No longer do surgery etc on site. A decent vets practice would be nice, but is a pipe dream. In response to the surgery answer. A £36 charge for a 2 minute follow up visit is not justified. As for bulk versus small purchasing, this doesn't justify such a large difference. Not all customers have endless bankrolls.

We've used Peak Vets for 20 years for a variety of pets, and when Andrew owned it, have always been happy with the service and price charged. In April 2022 we were charged £91 for them to complete our animal health certificate so that we could take our dog abroad. This year, the process was completed quickly and efficiently, but for exactly the same thing, the new owners, Medivet, charged us £191! I was shocked, and queried it but we already had the form completed so I had no choice but to pay it, but I can't see how any business can justify more than doubling their price in a year. Perhaps I should have asked for a quote first, but assumed it would be just a bit more than last year. Update January 2024: We have moved to Derwent Vets, who only charged us £95 for a animal health certificate
