I gained a FdSc in Marine Science and Applied Zoology in 2015 from Cornwall college Falmouth & Newquay. Before joining Medivet in 2017 I was working for a community interest company who supported pets who had been in domestic abuse situations. In my spare time I enjoy paddle boarding, travelling and walking my dogs.

I have been the Head Veterinary Nurse in the Merthyr Clinic since September 2023. I obtained my Registered Veterinary Nurse Qualification in 2012 and received my Degree in Veterinary Nursing in 2013. I have a keen interest in animal nutrition and received my Master's Degree in the same subject in February 2024. I also enjoy anaesthesia and theatre work and have undertaken a certificate in minor surgery enabling me to perform small procedures on patients. Outside of work I regularly attend lots of gigs and festivals and I am kept busy by my two dogs Zeus and Copper and my two Sphynx cats, Boris and Harriet.

I started here in 2012 as the receptionist for the Treharris branch, but moved to Merthyr in 2020. I really enjoy being in a busy practice and love getting the opportunity to watch different surgeries. Outside of work I enjoy spending time at my caravan in Tenby and going on coastal walks. I also enjoy musical theatre and going to concerts.

Medivet in Merthyr are a dedicated team of skilled people who work from a foundation of kindness. My elderly cat Smooch was reaching the end of her life after a few years of ongoing issues, and with Medivet's help, we were able to identify the best way forward, so as to make the rest of her journey as comfortable as possible. For Smooch's final appointment in late April 2025, the Medivet clinic's in-house team did one analysis in a short space of time - which was very helpful - and the results from the other tests done off-site from the clinic (in Medivet's main labs), also came back fairly promptly. Smooch had incurable, chronic kidney disease, and these analyses confirmed that it had reached roughly Stage 4. This information proved invaluable in me making the decision to go with end of life care at home, by another, recommended home visits vet who handles that. The test results enabled intervention just before Smooch reached the point where she began to suffer significantly. I have had to say goodbye to my beloved pet, but she was spared a much worse end. Thanks to everyone at Medivet, for all your efforts.

They are not worth one star STAY WELL CLEAR Our much loved dog had to have x-rays, but the veterinary surgeon did not advise us of the anaesthetic complications which occurred, this we found out by our new vet. Being told by Medivet no orthopedic surgeons in Wales to do the op our dog needed and she would need to go to Bristol, this I found to be untrue as several veterinary surgeons with many years experience who could operate in Wales. After contacting Medivet several times about the anaesthetic complications, we eventually received an email from the vet 36 days after advising us of the complications which we found was absolutely disgusting service. Since transferring our three animals to another veterinary practice we have found numerous mis truths and errors on their history notes. MEDIVET does not put animals wellbeing first, they do not care for beloved animals. This would never have happened when the experienced Mr & Mrs Hatton were at this veterinary practice

Sadly these days vets surgeries are not always easy to find in all our neighbourhoods and so we have to go further afield, but would like to say we are lucky to have this animal surgery and its staff, however it must be very difficult for those folks who dont have their own transport.... and have to get their sick animal to the surgery by hook or by crook.
