As a Veterinary Surgeon at Monument Vets, my day includes a mixture of consulting, dealing with medical in-patients and surgery. I work across both the Camborne and Redruth practices, and love the surgical aspect of my role. In my free time, you’ll find me running, playing netball, looking after my small herd of cows and going on long walks with my sausage dog Marcus.

I graduated as a Veterinary Surgeon from The University of Liverpool in 2012 after previously completing a degree in Zoology. Having grown up in Cornwall I decided there is no better place I want​ to work. I love all aspects of being a vet and always strive to look after all pets as if they were my own. In my spare time I enjoy kayaking, paddle boarding and going on long country walks with my Cocker Spaniel Ned.

We have a fantastic close knit team who are supportive and hard working plus have a great sense of humour! I have 3 cats; two exotic shorthairs and a ragdoll. All 3 of them are more like dogs and love nothing more than sleeping on my lap whenever I sit down. I enjoy exploring around cornwall, finding ways of keeping my two young children entertained and anything food related!

I qualified from Liverpool University in 1993 and have enjoyed working in small animal clinics since. In my spare time I like to pretend to surf, go mountain biking, and walk with my two terriers, Kiki and Ted.

Professionally, I enjoy all aspects of my professional life around animals. My dream has been to be a vet since I was a child. I find diagnostic imaging the most interesting! I consider this practice well-organized and love the team. Everyone loves animals and has incredible knowledge. I am a crazy cat lover. I have 3 cats-two amazing furry girls (whole black + whole white) and one handsome ginger boy. Every day with them brings me joy and laughter. When I put my vet cap down, you can find me mainly relaxing in nature or spending time with my family.

I graduated from the Royal Veterinary College in 2020 and have been working in Cornwall ever since! I particularly enjoy the challenge of complex medical cases and finding a solution that works for everyone - pet, owner and vet team together. In my time away from the clinic I enjoy gig rowing, sailing and working my crazy cocker spaniel Logan.

I qualified as a registered veterinary nurse in 2003, and have discovered that I particularly enjoy working with cats – perhaps because I have one of my own at home… One of my biggest responsibilities here at Monument is organising and managing both the nursing and reception teams, and assisting with the day-to-day running of the practice. I’m also responsible for monitoring anaesthetics, helping out in theatre, managing stock, running blood samples, and liaising with reps and suppliers – phew! Fortunately, I absolutely adore the variety of my job!

I had got more confident with the basic aspects of general nursing in my last practice and wanted to gain more experience with a wider variety of cases. I loved the supportive and team ethos of this practice which is a great environment to learn more in. I have 3 dogs. Two whippets, Ruby and Saffy and ex racer greyhound Lily. I also have two horses. Tinker is my cob and main riding horse and I also have a shire, Moonlight who is now retired from showing. I love riding and taking care of my horses. I love finding new places to take the dogs and recently got a Land Rover Defender to bundle all the dogs into and take on adventures.

I’ve worked at Monument for six years, and no two days are the same! My job as a veterinary nurse is so varied, and includes things like pre-op checks and anaesthetic monitoring, taking blood sample and doing lab work, even reception duties from time to time. My favourite part of the job is probably helping in the operating theatre, and I especially enjoy working with dogs on their behaviour and nutrition. I’ve got two dogs of my own at home, both Rhodesian Ridgebacks.

I love to work within a small team, and getting involved in all aspects of veterinary work. I have a very cute English Bull Terrier who is sooo lazy and I love him dearly. Outside of work I like to go for long beach walks. Having a young family and an English Bull Terrier Cornwall couldn’t be more perfect for all of us.

As a veterinary nurse at Monument my job involves setting up for operations and procedures, caring for inpatients, laboratory and dispensary work, helping out on reception, and running nurse clinics – my favourite part of the job! Animals are a huge, important part of my life. I have a Jack Russell called Buddy, who I love going on walks with in my spare time, and I enjoy spending time with my family looking after our chickens, sheep, and cattle.

I love that there is so much variety in my job. I started as a pet care assistant and now I have started my student veterinary nursing course. We have a lovely team and everyone is super helpful with my nurse training! I have 2 cats called Merlin and Meeko who are both very cheeky and cuddly. If it’s sunny I love going paddle boarding, kayaking or any excuse to go to the beach! In the winter I’ll most likely be reading a book and having pet cuddles.

As a receptionist we’re the first face you see, or the first voice you hear so our aim is to reassure you at what can be a stressful time; responsible for registering clients, making appointments, accounts, advice, dispensing, cleaning and various other supporting roles. Having spent more close to two decades working in hotel management, I love the customer facing role. Without a doubt though the most enjoyable part of the work is playing with puppies! I do love Thursday’s when we have our puppy parties!! Out of work I am a bit of a brass band enthusiast, having played in various bands in Cornwall and even dabbling in some conducting.

I am one of the first faces you will see when you come in to the practice. As a receptionist, my main duties are to meet and greet clients, deal with phone enquiries, book appointments, take payments and process repeat prescriptions. Out of all of these, I most enjoy meeting the variety of clients and pets that come through the practice doors, and getting to know them all on an individual basis. I have a dog of my own at home – a Jack Russell called Rocky.

It’s a nice change from what I was doing previously. I have a 13 year old white cat called Cookie who is very affectionate. I also have a 1 year old Portuguese Water Dog called Benji who loves his walks on the beach. Having a young family I don’t get much free time. But I do enjoy taking Benji for a walk on the nearby beaches, I also enjoy reading.
