What is a referral?

Advanced veterinary advice or care is needed depending on the case
Your primary vet decides they’re not able to offer the right level of expertise, or they don’t have the appropriate facilities at the general practice.

Your veterinary surgeon makes a referral to our centre
Your primary vet will recommend that your pet be seen by a specialist consultant, or a vet who has undertaken additional training to provide an advanced clinical service, at a referral centre.

We were referred here via our usual vet for a suspected cruciate ligament injury in our whippet Pippa after sudden lameness after running around a field. Our experience has been nothing but positive with Dogwood, the vet is very knowledgeable and you can tell he cares a lot about his patients both four and two legged. Pippa is recovering very well, and we are extremely thankful to all of the staff at Dogwood.

We were referred to dogwood referrals via our vet. Our experience has been nothing but a positive one. Tom came across extremely knowledgeable within his field of expertise. We left feeling Archie would get the best possible treatment and care. Archie had TPLO surgery and it’s been a success. The care he received has been great. Every member of staff we’ve come across has been lovely and caring. No one wants their dog to have surgery, but if they have to I recommend here for sure.

The practice staff are really lovely, I was worried my dog might not like visiting the vet after surgery, but he still loves coming in, which is a testament to the care he’s received from you.
I have commented neither agree or disagree with appointment times running on schedule. This is not a critique. The staff have never made an appointment feel rushed, they’ve taken the time needed to properly assess their patients. I never expect a vets to run on schedule, and have been late myself due to traffic issues, and it’s never been a problem. The staff have been extremely understanding in this situation.
