Meet our Partner, Marie Schlemm
I graduated in Berlin in 1996 and have been working in the UK since 1998 across a wide range of practices and clinical settings. This includes over ten years of experience in emergency and critical care, which has shaped my calm, considered approach to decision-making. I place great importance on building trust with both pets and their owners, taking time to explain options clearly and tailoring care to each individual’s needs and circumstances. My particular interests include preventative care, early identification and management of musculoskeletal issues, and optimising outcomes before and after surgery. I believe informed decisions come from understanding the full clinical picture, regardless of a pet’s age. Outside work, I share my life with Hawk, my ex-streetie cat from Portsmouth, who takes his evening cuddles very seriously. I am passionate about ethical chocolate, and love long walks in nature.

No vet should ever shout at a dog nor tell their caregiver it is wrong to offer reassurance. To say reassurance encourages bad behaviour comes from a place of ignorance. Dogs have natural behaviours and I would rather mine shows me they are uncomfortable than become shut down. There is so much contemporary research out there. I have no wish to speak to you further so please do not contact me again.

Always friendly with plenty of good advice. Cash our 5 month old Staffy mix puppy is relaxed, happy and loves the vet and the rest of the staff which makes every appointment stress free.

I recently visited Medivet West Bridgford and unfortunately my experience was very disappointing. When I arrived, the veterinarian asked if I had an appointment and, after checking the computer, saw my cat’s name. She asked me to take my cat out of the carrier, and while examining him she said he was a female. I explained that he is a male and had been neutered. She only checked his weight and then told me to put him back in the carrier. I also asked whether they offered a monthly plan, as a friend had mentioned it to me, and she simply told me to look for a leaflet at the reception desk. As I was leaving, she suddenly called out that I needed to pay around £90. I told her that the first appointment was meant to be free, and she responded, “Oh, yes,” without any apology or explanation. Overall, I am very disappointed with the way we were treated and, based on my experience, I would not recommend this clinic. ---

The vet took time to get to know my dog who can be nervous around strangers. I was delighted with the way he responded to her.

It is probably the going rate but just thought that it the actual bill was expensive and included a discount for consultation since treatment came under the 6 monthly check up.

Had a really good experience with the new lady vet Marie .very helpful patient and caring didn't rush things and gave me a plan . we are now able to go on holiday for the first time in 10 years not worrying about Charlie being poorly can't thank you enough
