I grew up in the wilds of Yorkshire, reading James Herriot and Richard Adams, so it seemed only natural that I became a vet. After a few years, I realised cats and dogs were a lot less muddy than farms and cows, so I moved across to small animals and now I’m part of the amazing hospital team in Poole. When not at work you'll find me curled up with my cats or being the proud mum to my cheeky teenager.

Hi, I'm Adele and I work on the night team covering out of hours and emergencies. When I'm not at work, I am kept busy with my menagerie of two dogs, two horses, a tortoise and eight ferrets. I'm soon to rehome a feral cat too. As well as this, I'm studying for a canine and equine physiotherapy degree which will help our patients while staying overnight.

I have been part of Medivet for 4 years, starting as a mobile PCA before training to become a student veterinary nurse. My favourite part of my job is looking after the inpatients so they are happy, healthy and ready to go home. At home I have 2 dogs called Poppy and Lottie as well as 4 rabbits (Benji, Evie, Teddy and Dotty). When not at work, I like spending time with my pets, diamond painting and playing games.

I'm part for the emergency and critical care night team. I have experience in both first opinion practice and in a referral hospital. My favourite part of the job, would have to be nursing very poorly critical ill patients, making their stay at the hospital as comfortable and stress free as possible... Whether that's abit of classic FM on the radio or a cuddle before bed time

I'm Sian i love all animals shape and sizes and looked after many whilst living in spain for 12years. I currently have a cat called daisy-doo and my 2 axolotls, light fury and toothless. My role is a twilight patience care assistant, assisting the nurse and vets treat the poorly animals whilst assessing emergencies over the phone and talking to worried owners is the main part. Look at becoming a nurse in the future.

I'm a Registered Veterinary Nurse, I've only be qualified a year and a half, so still feel I'm learning everday. I've wanted to work in the veterinary field since I was 7 years old when we used to take my old cat to the vets. My favourite part of the job is when we care for a long term inpatient and every day we see them get slightly better until they are ready to go home. I've got a beautiful ginger cat at home called Biscuit, he is a stray I adopted from work. In my spare time, I hang out with friends and family, watch movies and play with Biscuit

Incredibly kind and caring staff, we’ve been back and forth to them quite frequently since our cat was diagnosed with a terminal heart condition. They’ve looked after us every bit as they have Bob. Can’t thank them enough, or recommend them highly enough as a practice.

Having been with this practice for in excess of 30 years and having absolutely nothing but a positive experience, I was nervous on finding out that the independent Walton Lodge was becoming a Medivet practice. However, aside from a makeover and branding, the care, skill and friendliness of all the vets and support team is still absolutely fantastic - thank you Kate and your team for being the best!

The North Road practice of Afrivet is outstanding. I have been with Afrivet for the last 9 years but this year moved to Walton Lodge and could not be happier with the service. The front of house team are very helpful and the vets are lovely. My cat Willow no longer gets stressed about her twice yearly check ups. Very satisfied customer.

Sadly we had to have our pickachu put to sleep. I cannot explain the Compassion I was shown. I felt stupid bringing a hamster in 10pm a night, I was very emotional this was a family pet we loved him so much! But I rang out of hours, after 9pm and the vet nurse was incredible, kind, understood how we felt and said bring him right in we'll see what we can do. She was very informative, helpful but so I could understand, I had never been here before but the practice was beautiful, very clean, quiet beautiful layout. The vet who put pickachu to sleep was so kind, he explained what would happen and gave me choices helping me to understand and just made the entire process better. Everything was handled very professionally but kind. As this was a family pet I asked for some of his fur to keep, the vet brought out a beautiful keepsake jar for my daughter with a clipping of his fur in, such a beautiful gesture. And something she will cherish For someone who's emotional I cannot recommend this vets enough, for emergencies or anything else in fact. Beautiful practice and beautiful staff what a place! Thank you to medivet ❤️

I called the emergency line on Sunday early morning because my dog was in significant distress from an ear infection. When someone finally answered, they sounded irritated and clearly just wanted to get off the phone as quickly as possible. There was no advice, no reassurance—just a curt response telling me to call my vet on Monday morning. I understand that an ear infection might not be classified as an emergency to them, but as a worried pet owner, I expected a bit more compassion and guidance. I wasn’t calling for no reason, and I’m left wondering—if I can’t rely on a vet for advice in a time like this, who else can I turn to?

I was put in a very traumatic situation over the weekend with two dogs. I was calling the vets for advice and help, but they didn’t listen to any of my concerns and as soon as I would call they would assume that they knew what I was going to ask and cut me off within saying two seconds of a sentence- they threatened to hang phone up on me when I was getting distressed about a pet. This is a recurrent issue with this veterinary service- my cat was being palliated here a while ago and I had the exact same problem. If they are understaffed which is what is causing them stress and bad communication on the weekends then they should get more staff to work. I feel that I can’t call back to ask any questions as they won’t listen and will snap instantly. It’s such a shame because they have a duty of care that they have failed to apply. They talk about confidentiality, but then happily break it by telling me how busy they are with specific examples are of different cases they are dealing with e.g planning on anaesthetising a dog that is struggling to breath. I appreciate there are unwell pets, but I should not be made to feel guilty about calling in.
