Veterinary Surgeon

Dr. Walter Natoli, DVM, initially trained as a Veterinary Nurse at the University of Central Lancashire. Subsequently he gained his veterinary medicine degree from Bologna University - Alma Mater - in 2016, receiving the Italian national award “Massimo D’Acierno 2017” for best thesis in exotic animal medicine. Walter’s love for reptiles starts at the age of 12 with his first rescue green iguana “Iggy”. During university, his keen interest in genetics brings him to start breeding bearded dragons of all colours and morphs, creating “Hellenic Dragons”. Following a few years work in Italy, with collaborations including exotic animal hospital “Modena Sud”, becoming secretary of “Linnaeus association” and member of the Italian Exotic Animal society “SIVAE”, he moves to the UK in 2020. Here he becomes part of the Medivet team, where he deals with small and exotic animals of all sorts, whilst studying to become a European Certified General Practitioner (GPCert) in exotic animal practice. Walter is of Sicilian and Greek origin, he enjoys time with his cat Kanye, bearded dragons, house plants, as well as long walks on the beach with his partner and Dobermann Febo.

Head Veterinary Nurse

I joined Medivet in 2007 and started my training to become a qualified Veterinary Nurse at Medivet College in 2008. I qualified in 2011 and started at Danbury as Head Nurse from then. I love my job as I get to see different animals and cases every day. Being part of one practice for so long I feel I have good relationships with the clients and their pets. I have 2 cats of own, both rescues from work, Smudge and Colin. I have a horse called Freddy and a tortoise called Pav.

Veterinary Nurse

I started working with Medivet at Hockley in 2003 and qualified in 2007. I was then Head Nurse at the South Woodham branch for 5 years. I decided to gain more experience working at a practice outside of Medivet and did night nursing for a year and a half which increased my knowledge in emergency and critical care nursing. I have two daughters, a husband, two Jack Russell’s, a horse and have just acquired a pony for my girls! I started working part time at Danbury in September 2022. I enjoy theatre work (monitoring patients under anaesthetic), nurse consultations and helping with student nurse training.

The staff are always really kind and supportive, and I appreciate that there's never a sense of being rushed. In my experience the vets are happy to answer questions and offer advice which I value.
In terms of suggestions, the surgery hours are quite restrictive - mornings seem to have been shortened and afternoons don't start until 4 As I'm working I hoped to have a lunchtime slot but I understand these aren't available any more. I understand that there are blocks of time reserved for longer procedures, but as the practice now has 3 vets it would be great to have some more regular options during the middle of the day.
The waiting room is also quite tight when there are several dogs waiting which may be difficult to resolve aside from perhaps keeping some slots for small animals only to avoid having too many of the same animal waiting at once.

Following our very urgent phone call regarding our Nile Monitor Dragons rapidly deteriorating condition, we got a fast appointment to see their specialist Vet Walter. From the moment we contacted them and got there the staff support was first class. Walter was just totally brilliant and especially for our Dragon Gary. Unfortunately cancer was the diagnosis and we had to say a heart breaking goodbye to our truly wonderful family member. We will receive our Gary back and he will reside once again in his favourite place. All through this devastating time the staff were there with us supporting all the way. We are not registered with this Vet, but they were recommended by Colchester Zoo as we required specialist support. From all of us and especially Gary, these Guys in Danbury are the very very best. Totally totally recommend. We would now like to add to this previous review. We have now received from these Guys a condolence card for our very very sad loss of Gary our Monitor. In all the many years that we have had Pets of all types and the requirements of a Vet, we have never ever had a condolence card following the passing of any of our Pets from any previous Vet. This card has meant a hell of a lot to us, and this confirms how totally professional and truly caring the team are in Danbury. A BIG hug from us all.
