Helio Bullejos

Veterinary Surgeon

I qualified as a Veterinary Surgeon from Cordoba Veterinary School, Spain in 2007. Since then, I have practiced the profession in the UK in different areas, including public health and animal welfare. I have dedicated the last 10 years in small animal practice and joined Medivet in summer 2023. I enjoy performing surgeries and meeting all kind of animals in the consult room. I love how they all make each day to feel different, but at the same time familiar, challenging and rewarding. I spend most of my time with my sons, Hector and Nolan, watching them growing up (too fast!). I like to travel and meet different people and cultures. I try to keep myself active playing tennis or exploring the countryside, and I love scuba diving and skiing. But equally, I enjoy a quiet evening with a good book or movie.

I have been with the practice for 5 years from Ani medics to Medivet, mainly on reception but also helping in the background with pets. I have a huge passion for animals and have always dogs and cats in my life. I now have my own personal zoo at home with two boxer dogs and two cats. I am new to motherhood with my son (for those who wondered where I went for 6 months) and now back to work part time. In my down time I like to be outside where possible and spending time with my family and friends. I have been an adult instructor for somerset army cadets since 2012. I love walking with and without my dogs some distances are a bit excessive at 25 miles + . I am also a bit a crazy crochet lady with 100 + projects always on the go.

Medivet have been fantastic with our animals, most recently with our dog and cat, who have both needed operations. Rachel (vet nurse) is just amazing, I felt confident leaving them with her knowing they were in safe hands, she treats them like her own, is extremely knowledgeable and a credit to Medivet. Rachel makes the whole experience very personal and gives sound advice. Thank you!

To Whom It May Concern, I am writing to formally complain about the conduct of a veterinarian during my appointment today, [Date], at 2:00 PM for my cat. I arrived early for the appointment. I explained to the reception staff that I often find it challenging to bring my animals to the clinic because they become very stressed and unwell, which is difficult for me to witness. Upon meeting the veterinarian, he immediately raised his voice and spoke very loudly to me. I was not given a proper opportunity to explain the situation before he began to judge and criticize me based on what he had overheard. When I explained that I do not have personal transport and had walked to the appointment, he dismissively suggested, "Next time, get transport or try pet remedies." I found his comments and tone to be condescending, unprofessional, and entirely lacking in empathy, particularly his suggestion of remedies that I have, of course, already tried for my pets. His aggressive and loud manner made me feel extremely uncomfortable and scared. I was so upset by the interaction that I was reduced to tears. This treatment is unacceptable and has left me feeling that I do not want to return to the practice. I request that this matter is dealt with and taken seriously and appropriate action will be taken. I value my pets' well-being and deserve to be treated with respect and that’s one things you don’t do is raise your voice especially around my animal The vet’s name is Helio Bullejos definitely am disgusted stay clear everyone definitely wouldn’t recommend this person for my animals Thanks Lauren
