Meet our Partner, Joao Mario Martins Bigares
I graduated as a Veterinary Surgeon in Portugal 16 years ago and have been living in the UK for 10 years, initially working as a companion animal vet while finishing my PhD at Cardiff University. I joined the team at Medivet Llandaff North as a Partner in December 2020. Since arriving in the UK, I've worked in multiple roles as an emergency vet and have been a Clinical Director and Senior Clinical Director. I have a keen interest in emergency surgery, avian and wildlife medicine.

I've been bringing my pets to this practice since 1991 and they've always been kindly and expertly cared for. One dog had to have 2 cruciate ligament repairs and luckily this practice has the expertise to have been able to do it in-house. Our current 3 dogs are being kindly cared for with all their differing needs. Thank you to all the staff, but especially Joao and Johann.

As usual the experience was superb. Friendly receptionist and wonderful attention from Joan the vet. He really is fantastic. My dogs are rescue and a bit jumpy but he is so skilled in handling their worries as well as mine! Joan and Johann ( another vet ) are the DREAM TEAM. Nice new premises too

When my long time vet’s practice stopped trading abruptly my pet, and many others in south wales, were abandoned. My dog needed medication urgently. Medivet took her on immediately and, without medical history, which my previous vet hasn’t forward to me despite three requests, Medivet have agreed to prescribe for her. Very impressed with prompt service, and kindness of staff.

Such a lovely practice, all the staff are so lovely and caring, the lovely ladies on reception are really friendly. So glad we chose here for our 2 kittens. Highly recommended ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Appointment for routine vaccine of 1 year old dog. We attended on time but called into the appointment 45 minutes late. My dog was stressed as we arrived and sitting with cats crying near her and strangers with animals passing close by her added to her anxiety. We were called into the nurses and by this time my dog was frantic. I have had 2 dogs previously and never seen a dog try to climb up a wall before! The nurse was lovely but I am considering changing vets to reduce my dogs stress. All of her previous appointments have been late to start but this was the most stressful for us both. We have only seen the vet once at her initial appointment.

Great support from Joao and the team, they genuinely care about Geddy my standard poodle. We have used Medivet since 2020 when Geddy was born. An extremely happy customer.
