Meet our Partner, Rawdon Capell

Born and raised on the east coast of South Africa. I qualified as a vet in 2020 from the University of Pretoria. My wife and I moved to the UK in 2022 along with our little cat, Kiki, and have subsequently had a little boy. I worked at a Medivet clinic for three years and joined the Teddington clinic as Partner in May 2025. We love Teddington and I can’t wait to serve the people and pets of this community. I love all aspects of general practice but have a special interest in dermatology. I look forward to meeting each and every one of you and your furries. See you soon!

I'm Jessica and I started here at Medivet Teddington at the start of September 2025. I have completed an animal management course earlier this year and I'm so excited to be starting my training as a Student Veterinary Nurse! I have an adorable 13 year old dalmatian who I've raised in the countryside. She taught me my passion to become a nurse one day!

I'm Emma and I joined Medivet Teddington in 2006. I was born in Shropshire where my father was a farm vet and I would accompany him on visits. This is where I realised my love for animals! Alongside my time at the practice, I also look after client's cats when they're away on holiday

Title: Concerning approach to found cat cases I presented a found microchipped cat to the practice after providing temporary care while extensive efforts were made to locate the registered owner. Prior to attending the practice, the microchip had already been traced via local Scan Angel and the registered telephone number was no longer in service, the registered owner had been contacted by email over a few days, and extensive enquiries had been made within the local community. Multiple neighbours advised that the cat had been roaming for some time and believed she had been abandoned and neglected. I was initially informed that the practice was legally required to retain the cat. Following further discussion, this was clarified as Medivet’s internal policy. When I requested the legal or professional basis for retaining the cat, no specific legislation, RCVS guidance or regulatory requirement was identified. I subsequently sought independent advice from both the RSPCA and Cats Protection. Based on the circumstances I described, both organisations advised me that they were not aware of any legal requirement obliging a veterinary practice to retain a found microchipped cat in these circumstances. They explained that, where appropriate, a finder may continue caring for the cat while reasonable efforts are made to trace the registered owner. Ultimately, the registered owner was identified and the cat was reunited, which I fully supported and was pleased to see. However, I remain concerned about the lack of clarity regarding the distinction between legal obligations and internal practice policy. I believe clients should be given accurate and transparent information about the basis upon which significant decisions are made, particularly where those decisions affect the temporary care and welfare of found animals.
