Meet our Partner, James Sabin

I graduated from the University of Queensland in 1998 and spent five years working in mixed dairy practice in Australia. I came to England for what was meant to be two years in 2004, met my wife, and I’m still here! In 2012, I attained membership of the Australian and New Zealand College of Veterinary Scientists by examination in veterinary behaviour. Although the growth of the clinic means I no longer have time to carry out behavioural consultations, I use that knowledge every day — including with my own children. I was awarded a General Practitioner Certificate in Ophthalmology in 2019, followed by a Postgraduate Certificate in Small Animal Ophthalmology in 2020. I take on ophthalmic referrals and perform a range of ophthalmic surgical procedures using our operating microscope. I am also an Official Controls Veterinarian, which allows me to issue animal health and export certificates for pets. Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my wife and our two children, as well as getting out on my bike.

Jane Sabin

Veterinary Surgeon

Jane told her gran she wanted to be a vet at the age of 6. She feels very lucky that she is a Veterinary Surgeon. She graduated from Cambridge in 2002 and since then has been looking after pets in the South East. She loves seeing puppies and kittens come in for their first practice cuddle but also likes helping creaking joints and giving older pets their spring back. Outside of work Jane is entertained and educated on a daily basis by her 9 year old son and 11 year old daughter.

Chloe graduated from the Royal Veterinary College in July 2020 after obtaining her bachelor’s degree in Veterinary Medicine. She began working within the Dartford region as a ‘floating’ vet on the Medivet Graduate Programme in October 2020 before joining the team at Halfway Street in June 2021. Chloe currently enjoys the variety and challenges of general practice and is keen to pursue her interest in both dermatology and behavioural medicine in the near future. Chloe is also an official controls veterinarian which means that she can issue animal health certificates and export certificates for pets. At home, Chloe is 'Mum' to a 1-year-old bouncy Dobermann, Arnie, who keeps her on her toes! Chloe enjoys long walks with Arnie in the Kent Countryside, spending time with family and trying her hand at various arts and crafts.

Kyley Aikenhead

Head Veterinary Nurse

Kyley joined a private family run veterinary practice in 2003 and qualified in 2008. Here she was exposed to a wide variety of cases including pregnancies, cesarians, wildlife, RSPCA court cases and charity work, as well as the lovely routine cases of the practice. Kyley developed a passion for those pets less fortunate and enjoyed many hand rear and critical cases that she nursed at home – ranging from puppies and kittens to ducks, wild birds, hedgehogs and fox cubs. After 7 years as a Head Nurse she left to join Medivet Sidcup in 2014 and loves her role as Head Nurse at this branch. She has watched the branch grow from one vet and three nurses, to four vets (two part-time) and five nurses and a receptionist. She has a great sense of pride in how the practice has developed, and the level of care that all of the staff are passionate to strive for. Outside of work her main focus is her 6 year old son, her rescue dog, her two horses whom she bred 16 years ago and her rescue pony.

In her spare time she likes to ride her horse Ted, go out for food with her friends and spend time with her family. The vet my dog was scheduled to see was running late and as the staff know my dog gets nervous waiting, I was advised to take her for a walk rather than sit ages in the waiting room. This definitely helped her.

£230 for photo copies of the documents already in my procession, absolutely disgraceful.

I visited your establishment to get a travel doc for my dog, he had a EU passport, but now requires further documentation to travel. The appointment last less than 20 mins and the dog was not checked at all. If you are going to charge £230 for, basically administration (photo copies and official stamps on those photo copies) then surely it would be prudent to let the customer know this is how much it’s going to cost.
I checked the Gov.co website to see how much this appointment should cost and was informed £100-£150. Which in itself is ridiculously high, but for you to charge £230 is abhorrent and exceedingly greedy. Seeing as the government makes no charge for this it seems to be your decision to charge such an extraordinary amount. This is the only conclusion I can come too.
The reception staff are super and helpful, but I cannot see why I would visit your company again.

Friendly and helpful staff. I like that there are never loads of people with their pets in the waiting room. Our dog isn’t particularly dog friendly

Took my little dog Charlie for a nail clip something he’d braver had done before. Naturally he was anxious and scared, the young vet however was kind and encouraging. We managed to get the nails clipped with her help in making him feel safe and secure. Medivet have always welcomed us and we have always felt welcomed. They run a great practice there.
